Now that Sloane is 3 years
old, I thought I was going to avoid the terrible
toddler years, the day she turned 3 Sloane let
me know I was W-R-O-N-G! She is normally
such a sweet little girl, but recently she
decided she wasn't having any part of me making
her leave her friends house and went off the
deep end. She threw a tantrum bigger than
any I had ever seen. Screaming, thrashing the
whole bit. In the heat of the moment she
even told me "I don't love you anymore mama!"
That one hurt. I struggled to carry her to
the car and strap her into her car seat, all the
while she was screaming at the top of her lungs
that she didn't want to leave.
The worst part of this
tantrum didn't happen until I was on the highway
headed home. I heard a thump in the back
of the car and turned around to fine Sloane had
climbed out of her car seat, over the back seat
and was sitting in the back with both her hands
and face pressed against the rear window crying
"I can't see!" When I asked her what she
couldn't see she said "My friend Sophia's house.
I can see it anymore!" with tears pouring down
her face. I pulled over to get things
under control and within two minutes she was
passed out. What an adventure that was!
Having this happen I
realized Sloane needs to have more time with
other kids and spends way too much time just
hanging out with me. So I enrolled her in a
tumbling class that started yesterday. She
was a little nervous at first, but warmed up
pretty fast to the other kids. One mom
commented to me that she had to sit with her
daughter for three weeks before she'd play with
the other kids. That made me feel pretty
good, because after about 10 minutes Sloane was
jumping and playing with the rest of the kids...
I must be doing something right!
Check out Olivia! This was
all her own idea, she taught herself watching
videos on-line and then took 3 classes. She even
made ALL of the hula-hoops herself! I agree with
Liv's mom that it takes kahunas to get up there
and perform by yourself in front of all of your
peers! She is obsessed with Cirque Du Soleil and
dreams of being a part of it someday. We all
think that she is well on her way!
